Nobody can beat you. Nobody can top you.

You know why? Because they're not you.

What another would have done as well as you, do not do it. What another would have said as well as you, do not say it; written as well, do not write it. Be faithful to that which exists nowhere but in yourself—and thus make yourself indispensable. —Andre Gide
That's the beauty of it: you don't have to worry about what anybody does because they're not you. They CAN'T possibly top you because only you are you. You've got the inside track on you-ness. In fact, you've got a total monopoly. Nobody sees the world through your eyes, feels it the way you do, thinks about it the way you do. Nobody.
So don't try to imitate anybody else. Your gift is in being yourself. That's what makes what you do special. So be the best you. Not the best anybody else. Then you've got the inside track to success. You're a shoe-in.
Do you do things differently than most people? GOOD! We need more originality in this world.
The world-famous painter Henri Matisse said:

It has bothered me all my life that I don't paint like everyone else.

What a shame that he felt that way and what a GIFT it was to the rest of us that he DIDN'T paint like everyone else.
Be sui generis (roughly translated: not like anyone else). Therein lies your real value. Therein lies your contribution to this world. And it's easy to do. Just be yourself.
