Are you waiting to live?

Be honest. Are you going to really start living when you graduate from school, retire from your job, get social security, get your driver's licence, lose that weight, make that money, get the guy, feel better, feel stronger, have more support, get your health back, your family straightens out (fill-in-the-blank here)?

We all do it to some extent. But the trick is living in moments. Living in moments because that's all there is.
     Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote:

A third illusion haunts us, that a long duration, as a year, a decade, a century, is valuable. But an old French sentence says, "God works in moments." We ask for long life, but 'tis deep life, or grand moments, that signify. Let the measure of time be spiritual, not mechanical. Life is unnecessarily long. Moments of insight, of fine personal relation, a smile, a glance,— what ample borrowers of eternity they are!

Grab the moment you're in. Right now. Not when the weekend comes or when your loved one comes home from work or whenever. No, grab this moment. It's loaded with spiritual significance for you. It is not here by accident, and it will never come again.
Then as you begin to string moments together, life becomes full, rich, endlessly beautiful. Don't wait to live, friend. Live now. Your life is beautiful right now. Ziggy Marley has a song "Good Old Days." One of the lyrics goes:

I remember when grandpa use to say, grandson, these be the good old days.

These be the good old days. Don't wait to live. Now now now is your time to give it all you've got, experience the wonders of life, to be your true self. It's right here, right now. Live in the moment. It's all there is.
